World of Warcraft’s Invisible Necropolis

Hi !

Today we will take a look at an iconic removed raid instance, which was so hard, that only a small part of the playerbase got to experience it themselves, while the majority could only learn about it second hand.

As you can imagine, this led to some tall tales about what could be found inside, with some of the stories actually turning out to be true!

This video is part of the “WoW – History” which can be found on my channel 🙂

I hope you learned something new from this video, and thank you for watching!

  1. I might have something that can interest you. In Grizzly Hills there is a hole in the world that allows you to fly underneath the world and there is some weird stuff down there. I discovered this hole by accident all the way back in Wotlk and it still hasn't been fixed. It is best accessed by a druid in flightform due to areas underneath the world that will disconnect/dismount you randomly. At coords 71.14, in the ravine with the stone throwing giants, there is a pillar you can fly behind and there is a hole near the wall you can move down through and tadaa! You are now underneath the world. In my journeys underneath I encountered bright green "cheese slices" (they have holes like Swizz cheese) and lots of random items floating around. The only issue is the constant disconnects you encounter while exploring, and also trying to not fly to far or you end up out in the open world again.

  2. I think part of what made the Lich King so intimidating throughout Wrath was his voice. Hearing the old Naxx Arthas voices makes me real glad they gave him such a powerful voice in Wrath. He wouldnt have been anywhere near as scary.

  3. From what I remember there was no such a thing as logging in inside old naxx and getting to Wrath zone. People that did got their chars bugged and took them a while to manage to play with said chars.

  4. Does anyone else remember the OG Naxx 40 moving around plaguewood? It wouldnt move super far around EPL. I dont remember it floating in a static zone.

  5. Corrupted Ashbringer is still one of the coolest lore things in WOW. I actually liked how they handled it with Wrath, though. Feels too powerful and cool to give to players vs Tirion Fordring being able to purify it and wield it himself.

  6. Back in TBC I logged out in Naxxramas and when I logged back in during the Wrath prepatch I was still in the lvl 60 version of Naxxramas. I saw the NPC's in every wing! There were no portals to exit as shown in the video. As it was the old Naxxramas you were unable to leave the dungeon at all. There were windows showing EPL.

  7. I remember seeing an absolutely ancient super poor quality video someone took of them having logged out in old naxx before it was patched out, I watched it when I was just starting to get really into wow in high school (cataclysm) and I had no clue what was going on but I was so fascinated, and I started doing out of bounds stuff after. This topic was kind of a blast from the past. 🙂

  8. I'm always excited everytime I see you post a new video. You are quickly becoming my favorite WoW channel. I love WoW trivia and you do an excellent job finding the mysterys and relics of the past.

Do you have any plans to cover content in TBC or WOTLK? I'd love to see what you can dig up in those eras in addition to classic! Much love mate <3

  9. It's always so nice to hear you talk about this ancient era (which I didn't know about) and especially about the reactions and speculations of the community of that time.

I find, personally, a shame that they did not take advantage of the quest around Naxxramas to bring back into play a way to go through the old raid (even by removing the rarest objects), just to see the bosses of the 'era.
