  1. I bought EA PGA Tour early on. Not a fan. Downloaded PGA Tour 2k23 and I enjoy this game much more.

I was a huge fan of Tiger Woods back in the day. EAs new game feels too slow. The store options are too limited. I actually find the gameplay harder and more frustrating even on the easiest setting. Pro golfer roster is also not as good (in my opinion).

Im ready to return EA PGA Tour and stick with 2k23.

  2. Pros (as opposed to 2k23): Better graphics, much better commentary. I just love Lerner and Nobilo! Lots of real-life courses. Difficulty levels that can give a good golfer a challenge while not frustrating people like me.
Cons: Glacial player progression. Pay-to-win system of "Pro Pass" that relies on paying them more $$$ for the best upgrades. Tournaments are a good idea but too easy for advanced players to ruin it. 2k is guilty of this too, but just for cosmetic stuff. No custom course designer. The thing about realistic tournament associations and the atmosphere of the big events, that really isn't important to me at all, since I don't follow golf as a sport.

  3. What the hell is going on with the delay when waiting for opponents to hit shots in the challenges? Almost unplayable. And the useless tap-ins. I’ve actually missed some auto tap-ins. How the hell does that work? ☹️

  4. I played my first round this morning… on Pebble Beach, nonetheless. I think they updated the game already to make it less frustrating. For example, there is an option now to give you any put under 3 feet. Coming from someone who played TW games from 2008 to 2012 and then RM in 2015, I feel at home already. The graphics are FANTASTIC. The game has a great golf atmosphere. It has been a very long time since I had that feeling. It feels truly great.

My only grip so far is that it is a REQUIREMENT to setup an EA account otherwise you get into offline mode with NO SAVED progression. This is insane. EA is asking me to change my password, I just want to play a round of golf, for fuck sake…

  5. Is there any way that if you're playing online instead of both players "golfing at the same time on the same hole" we can watch the other player and what they're doing instead of shooting at the same time? I'm not wording that great but hopefully someone can help me

  6. I used to love all the golf games, but now after experiencing golf in vr using a regular controller seems such a step backwards. Golf+ is fun on the Quest2 and hopefully it will be even better on the PSVR2. I would love for EA to come out with a VR mode.

  7. Love the graphics in EA, but performance on PC is awful. I have a 3080 with a decent CPU and even at 1080p there are horrible stutters. I also find the ball physics just doesnt feel right, with balls rolling off greens that don't seem that steep and continuing through thicker cuts.

  8. The putting line up sucks, the worst I have ever seen in a golf game, I been playing since 2004 all the TW and others! Very bad putting lineup, the line comes up the first thing when you at the green cam. Then when you try to line up, it's off like 2 to 8 inches all the time! It sucks really bad! I hate it so much, I throw my mouse in the water,…(I mean my putter!) LOL!

  9. My favorite part of EA's PGA? The fact that it exists.. i played a LOT of Tiger Woods back in PS1/PS2 days (yea i'm that old), and never touched a 2K Golf Game in my life. Not sure why tbh, i'm not a irl golfer or even a golf fan, i just loved playing the EA Games for some reason, felt so relaxing… that being said: just looking at the swing speed i am certain it's muscle memory, it looks much more familiar to me than the 2K swing… Didn't buy the new EA one yet because of EA being EA and we all know what that means for at least a decade now… But yea, i am really on the fence as nostalgia hits hard with that one.

  10. I am thinking of buying it because it is on sale until May 29 at a 40% discount. A friend of mine ordered the game pre-release and is disappointed in the game. He says you can only play multiplayer at Pro level with all aids turned on. He plays at Sim level. In addition there is no turn order in multiplayer so you will hardly see your playing partner. I haven't asked my friend yet but I am hoping you can play rounds without the galleries and commentary. In addition I assume basic options like turning off the comet trail are available. He did mention that update 3.0 improved the putting. He also says that the swing at the present time is too "mechanical" but I will be finding out shortly.

  11. I'm enjoying the career mode but this game has a lot of missing pieces for a $70 price tag:

    – no replay
    – no driving range/putting green to practice
    – reads are usually off especially in putting. Irons picking and choosing when they want to be affected by wind is annoying too
    – would be nice to be able to fastforward CPU shots when playing modes that have multiple golfers

    – graphics are lacking considering this is a next gen (current gen now???) game

  12. Career mode not having a 2 round option is brutal and my biggest gripe atm its making the season a slog.

Edit: It’s an EA game….The graphics/courses/swing mechanics are on point. Allot of things are a mess but it will do.

  13. Great summary. For me personally, what bothers me the most are the short game swing mechanics. The fact that the posture, stance, club face rotation etc does not change for a chip shot, flop shot, bunker shot etc from the regular swing is a huge draw back. Less important, but hopefully they fix are glitches with music, stars in challenges and some of the commentary. Also the over exaggerated celebrations are weird. The player celebrate a normal drive into the fairway as if they just made the winning put at a major. Otherwise, I love this game and really looking forward to the improvements and additional courses.

  14. Great video. I played 2K with a mouse, because a controller was so far out of my ability. Game even became very unpredictable using mouse. Timing was all over the place. Calibration did no good. Then along comes EA, and I'm a happy camper. Even using a controller. If EA comes out with a course designer program, and introduces 2v2, and 4v4 like 2K along with play order, they will have a home run. I suspect EA will come out with additional courses in the near future.

  15. So far, I have only played the USGA event, and it didn’t occur, but I recall in TW 13 or 14 there would be crowd roars from other holes while you were playing and the game would say “<Insert PGA Pro’s name> birdied 13 to go to -7”. It totally amped up the immersion, and I hope it’s either in events I haven’t hit or they add it as they continue to update the game.
