SAURFANG: OLD SOLDIER REACTION | New Varok Saurfang Cinematic Reaction World of Warcraft BfA

My LIVE REACTION to the surprise cinematic titled OLD SOLDIER which is entirely about Varok Saurfang and his reaction to the burning of Teldrassil ! These are meant to introduce Battle for Azeroth and some of the main characters ahead of the August 14th Release Date. This was taken from my livestream on the DAY it was released.

Watch Cinematic: Old Soldier here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW_h0qf9vpA&t=4s

Varok Saurfang has fought in countless wars, always putting honor and duty above all us – and yet has never received his Warrior’s Death. Will he die an old orc or will he go out the way he lived? On the field of battle with honor in his heart. This is an orc who feels betrayed by the Horde and that it is lost, but this cinematic shows that he WILL reclaim his people.

  1. There is SO much more I want to say about this cinematic because it really is something incredible. The lighting effects, that sunset and sunrise symbolism. AH. It's so good. THIS is the Horde I love. This is the Horde I don't want to fight – I'm terrified of THIS Horde. LOK'TAR OGAR NERDS!

  2. Saurfang was, is and ever will be the most honorable orc warrior the horde has to offer, he should be revered and respected by all, he gives me hope that there will still be honor within the horde, I really like that young troll, sincerely hope he has a place in future lore, anyone with the courage to confront and convince a veteran warrior to live another day, deserves recognition…..near the end he places his fist on the boys chest the same way as he did with his son in northrend, perhaps he adopts the boy since the boy lost his father.

  3. Sorry I'm late to the comments but i cant stop watching this cinematic still to this day. One thing I noticed and I haven't seen many others mention it. When Saurfang takes the necklace in hand when it is on his son he bumps his fists then rests it against his chest before taking the necklace. Saurfang does the same gesture to the troll when he hands Saurfang the necklace that he took from the fire for him. I feel Saurfang sees a lot of his son in the young troll and that is why he changes his mind.

  4. Vol’Jin said the spirits chose sylvannas for a reason and it might not make sense or be clear but she was the one so I gotta have faith in my boi voljin that somethin good comes out of this

  5. I get what you mean about the story actually affecting me. Many of the stories don't, in Warcraft. Sometimes they get a meh. Ysera got me crying but half of that was the song (seriously, she could have dodged or something, and later on everyone that went to the nightmare comes back anyway except for her. I mean it's not like she'd have even been the first emerald dragon to live as a spirit) But nope. Anyway, for this stuff, it does affect me, and Jaina's thing was brilliant but…

Damn if I really care. Jaina squandered a looooot of good will with me in Pandaria so her sudden heroic turn (which isn't a turn, she still wants to kill em all and hasn't changed in the least save to further regress into the war mongering her father did) only makes me angry. If they had saved her anger for this expansion, I would have liked it a lot. But they didn't. They spent it before.

Now we have Saurafang doing what our last warchief was doing (the only good one we've ever had), only he's doing it bad. He knew what was happening was wrong but rather then lead the Orcs away from this Genocidal maniac (like Vol'jin did with the orcs when Garrosh was around) he just goes back because 'For the Horde', ignoring that Sylvanas is using the horde as a shield for her conquest.

This would have been much cooler if Vol'jin had lived, or came back, revealing Sylvanas to be the crazy bint that he is, maybe fricking with the spirits of death or maybe old god stuff or something… And then have Sylvanas become the next Lich Queen. We all know it's going to happen. Every expansion has been hammering it in harder and harder that she wants to expand the forsaken and keep fighting because she's afraid to die. Then for the die hard PvPers have break away factions or radicals still fighting the war.

Interesting story as the peace group (Anduin and Vol'jin, both being way smarter then the average bear) become a third faction in PvP battle. It'd shake up the Battleground formula too. Horde and Alliance vs Radical Horde vs Radical Alliance. Could put Radical Horde under Sylvanas and Radical Alliance under Jaina. Her cinematic was cool, literally brought me to tears it was that good, but it doesn't forgive what she and her father tried to do. Remember, she's already called for genocide of the horde in Pandaria. 'They're weak now so lets kill em all.' In fact, if you think about it in that way, Jaina's 'heroic' turn is actually a great deal more sinister. It's no wonder she's being put in the same grouping as Sylvanas and Azshara.

With Vol'jin as Warchief, the Horde has honor, and cleverness. With Anduin as King, the Alliance has the same. Having them try and work together to create a group while fighting radicals in their own ranks, traitors that aren't demons seeking to cause rifts, racists, and also the dangers of the world at large would bring immeasurable amounts of stories to the fore as possibilities.

But instead we got 'Horde is evil and wants to kill hope and life' and 'Some in the Horde know it's wrong but unlike the last time there was an evil tyrant as Warchief they refuse to do the smart thing and cut the fricker down.'

  6. I'm late, I know but I feel Saurfang has reached that point where he wants to fight alone, because it's the only way he will get what is his, his ''deathrite'' aka a warrior's death. He's been in countless wars, as you know and all those around him fall, yet he remains. This is why I believe he was going to go to the frontlines alone, and fight his final battle alone. On top of not wanting to be within the Horde's ranks anymore, it seems like a logical out. Not to mention the selfishness of Sylvanas and her actions no doubt fill him with shame.

  7. Сильвана чёртова крыса которая думает только о себе и отрёкшихся , ей наплевать на орду и других . Я в ней разочаровался.

  8. the only thing i can think is when he was walking out alone and without the armor to the alliance is because of what happened at the tree, he was finally broken and after listening to Zappy Boi that made him want to live another day.

  9. He wanted to fight for himself since Sylvanas used the plague against the alliance and warriors of the Horde, especially orcs where victims aswell. Saurfang didnt agreed to Sylvanas' choice since her action didnt had anything to do with honor or glory…

  10. Varok has been through hell… literally as he killed Eredar children and now he has to handle another Warchief who's not leading the Horde.

This is the key difference between Garrosh and Sylvanas. Garrosh did believe in "his" Horde but Sylvanas always… ALWAYS had an agenda. No wonder why the questline is "The Warchief's Agenda". 😉

  11. He said there would be no glory during the battle, only pain. He did not want to contribute to the battle because it would gain him nothing. Going on his own to face the Alliance, and die a warriors death, that would grant him the death he sought.

  12. He was depressed basically, he kind of has been since his sons death. This leader stuff as he leads the Orcs is almost too much for him, on top of the honour as well as knowing they will lose what’s next.

  13. when I am on my Orc, I will not fight for that wench. i will fight for my brothers and sisters who always pay the price for their warchiefs' private battles. Let no more sons and Fathers fall to dishonor.

  14. I believe you are 100% correct.. but I wouldn't say he isn't a part of the Horde anymore.. I'd say he isn't a part of Sylvanas's "Horde" anymore… and I will gladly join him

  15. Saurfang has a conscience that is his biggest weakness. War is ugly and all is fair. If you don't have the heart to fight anymore then do as Saurfang will do and leave the Horde.

  16. Sylvanas basically said that the alliance will strike hard in retaliation, and their emotion fuels their weakness. So, she anticipates this next move. Not sure what to expect, but something tells me that there is something bigger than Sylvanas on the horizon, she is merely a patsy I think. In any case, great reaction as always.
