For anyone wondering, this is a rather large oversimplification of the draenai lore and the reason behind their war with the orcs. The books are kinda good, in my opinion – give em a read.

Draenei are basically Blizzard saying "yes" to make the most exotic, mixed up race. Got demonic/aberration/alien mixed with the Holy Bible, AND mixed with sci-fi in a fantasy setting.
When released the Draenei also had the biggest array of class styles to choose from, from Shaman to Paladin, Mage to Hunter, etc. They were the OG of putting as many classes from opposite ends in one race. Makes sense to as they were chosen as the Burning Legion's commanders. They're WoW's power fantasy race.
Also fun fact like you said they're an alien race like Orcs, that also went through the same thing but slightly different. Velen = Durotan, Archimonde = Gul'dan, and Kil'Jaeden = Ner'zhul, only KJ lasted longer than Archi. Velen also had the Naaru to bail them while Durotan and the Orcs had no outer race beings to help bail them out.

Dranaei are the coolest Alliance race. It's just a shame that after they were introduced in BC, they had to wait for another 4 expansions before they were allowed to do anything again. I do think if it weren't for the faction war BS (which is getting so old at this point, and no longer makes any sense in-game), they'd be good friends with the Tauren.

I find it amusing that Vulgrim can, with confidence, joke that the Bible is the original fantasy book. However, feels the need to everyone that he knows that Velen wasn't the driving, assuring that it is just a joke. Better not invoke the wrath of Draenei/Velen fans, because there will be Hell to pay! HELL TO PAY!!!
