But WoW’s new player experience and even story suck. You do the starter area, then you are called the Champion of Azeroth after doing jack-shit. Plus the main story has you as a side character. There’s literally no personal character growth for you.
It's pretty easy. People want to connect with friendly other people, have fun and not get frustrated. That's it. Find a system that makes that possible.
literally started to play wow first time a month ago after got tired of eso. At first I was amazed by this magical world making it so fantsy-ish comparing to eso, but later I was quite overwhelmed with content. Then realised that the gear you get in raids got outdated in next expansion. I really like the game and particularly the retail version but don't have time on this bullshit timed raids and mostly questing. I now play with my friend 3-4 hours a week and we do dungeon runs with random but we are so looking forward to the new expansion and do delves runs together. At least it's good to know they go to the right direction but still more things to be improved in the game experience. Would also be awesome to get more content in the old zones from vanilla for example.
problem:
No one rly gives a F about the story, because the last 3 expansions blizzard they/themselves don't care at all.
So if I come back that will be for GAMEPLAY alone, and if there is even a wiff of bullshit, considering all the pve and pvp testing and all the feedback, if there is EVEN A WIFF of mediocrity and outliers aren't nerfed and underdogs bufffed IMMEDIATELY in the fist two weeks, its over.
And once you stop playing wow at the start of an expac, there is a 90% chance you will not engage in any content post launch.
i was very done with WoW from cata to dragonflight, with the exception of Legion where i was active and engaged. dragonflight lured me back for the launch and i had a wonderful time with how much open world content was there ,but i didnt stick around for the rest of the cycle. i'll come back for TWW and i intend to stick around this time. DF was a "see if they can run a whole expac without ruining it" and they seemingly did?
idc about raids, i DO care about m+ but not hardcore, i care about pvp but what i really care about is the world of warcraft, so yes, feed me pasta seymour.
i assure you, it is not
Mä will see, learned a long time ago to never overhype or expect the sun with wow. Will see when its out and only then, way to many wow is saved videos jump the gun.
Personally, I do everything in WoW. From RP, to collecting, to PvP, PvE (raiding, m+) but i just cant care anymore about these changes. I find it so boring. I just like to progress, so whether theres some new affix or a boss was changed, i dont really care. im not a big numbers person when it gets to m+ and raiding, i just like to be there and do it
Less story quests compared to df and sl is very concerning
The problem according to me is gearing. The people that enjoy m+ m raids and the best pvpers get gear that is soo much stronger than casual players that if you decide to try a raid or pvp its like you are not even there. A geared pvper to a casual player is like running into a raidboss.
And since these players are better at the game than you are, its an unnessesary advantage.
I've been classic only for years now but I'd like to try TWW. I don't even know what class I want to play yet, I'm definitely not ready to learn about Mythic + changes!
it's weird that you do a really terrible comparison of "pasta to pizza" in reference to the type of content World of Warcraft provides and i get it, ya'll specialize on WoW and you only recently delved into covering other things. Guild Wars 2 has it's issues but it's a joy to play for me and i feel like the main thing that puts people off about WoW is that it's specifically "Tab target" and not everyone is into that style of play, after about twenty years i figured out it wasn't for me and now i have a Vupera that has the achievement for reaching level 120 but i digress. Guild Wars 2 gives a more "real" feel to the genre and ANYONE can revive another downed character/player.
i find it really interesting that Guild Wars 2 offers F2P (even though you only get two character slots) and people won't at least give it a try. And just in case here's hashtag not sponsored.
Battle for Azeroth, "We are so back!"
Shadowlands, "We are so back!"
Dragonflight, "We are so back!"
The War Within, "We are so back!"
Second verse, same as the first.
I actually think dragonflight was MEGA casual friendly, probally the best version for casuals ever.
We dont care or do mythic plus. Your major subs dont play mythic
I've stayed in when others left (like my old guild). I'm pretty much solo now and the Delves, followers dungeons, and the warbands is so great for someone like me. I don't like anything over about Mythic +3 because I am not fast (disability does that). And I've been kicked out of raids and dungeons because I'm not as fast. It's not fun to get kicked. It sucks. So, I stay out of them. The followers dungeons were great in DF, I am wishing they were in Remix. I did venture into Mogushen Vaults in a group last night, they had "heroic carry" on their entry and they did a great job. I was slower but they waited and when I died (2x in the entire thing), they waited. I'm so grateful for that.
So, while I didn't quit (WoW is my fun time), I was worried that this would be another expansion that I wouldn't get to see content until it was 2 expansions old. I'm glad to hear things are going well for those of us who aren't runners and gunners.
what sword?
People love a comeback story, they’re looking in to see if it’s going to pull it off.
Though I acknowledge there's a lot of good things in the upcoming content, I still fail to see how the new m+ system is appealing to casual players as it basically prevent from going over 11 keys.
Are you sure? I’m a casual and came back because it had been a couple years.. having fun with Mist remix and honestly don’t care at all about this new expansion. I’ll play it but it’s not why I came back.
Idk, I left WoW and started playing OSRS. Not sure if I will try War Within. We'll see.
The casuals are what keeps WoW alive, not the 1% who do mythics
Just speaking for myself, "Mythic+" is boring AF. "Mythic" Raiding? Boring AF. I want content that I can play at my own pace, both with friends and by myself when they're not online, and WoW hasn't catered to me for years. Plus the stories of Shadowthingy and Dragonthingy just straight up aren't interesting. They're not WoW!. The War Within seems to be offering content for me, both in terms of the story and the systems, and it's got my attention. Plus MOP Remix is really fun.
Looking forward to this more alt friendly hopefully more casual friendly expansion. I’ve played on and off since the launch of vanilla back in the beginning but stopped serious playing towards the end of wrath and the only raid since then have been as a high level lone raider. Historically since cata which I hated at the time I’ve returned played each expansions story, levied the odd alt then left again but I’m hopeful this expansion will be the one that keeps me hanging around as it will finally be rewarding to run the many alts.
Casual WoW retail player here. Yes 😀
War Within is bringing back players that ditched in Shadowlands that Dragonflight couldn’t quite bring back. Part of it is that Dragonflight’s lore was weak and did not do much for casual players.
Mop Remix got me back to prep my alt army for TWW. I have 5 alts ready to go. Let's do this. Casual gamers rise!
🙂 thanks
I'm at that weird place where I like tanking, but I don't take toxicity/extreme expectations very well. So the whole concept of Mythic+ has kinda made me stick to the casual side of WoW. With what I've seen with War Within it looks like I'll be able to experience what I love but also don't have to worry about people breathing down my neck.
I'm %100 a casual. I dont do mythic plus and I haven't really done raid progression since wrath.
This tells me that people arent generally interested in M+ as the endgame and I wish blizz would see that and change it dramatically. The format of M+ is stale, no one LIKES doing it the way it is now, and it needs a serious overhaul. I used to be a hardcore raider but now Im way more casual, looking for blizz to add more casual content and endgame that doesnt make me want to roll over and die after engaging with it. And for the LOVE OF GOD please give us player housing blizz. You are the only game without it.
I quit raiding from tier 2 for the first time since MOP. As good as the great vault is, if you don't have a inclusive guild pugging is Hell. Finding a guild has been very hard for me. Every one seems to want to do nothing but mythic raiding I've found. Bringing Raider IO into the game has had a very toxic affect to the players. If War Within is the same as DF with no tables or mechagon for instance I'm probably done. I basically log in to get my traders post done. There is nothing to do but High end game now. I didn't think I'd miss the grind of AP but I do, at least it game me a reason to play the game when I just wanted to something besides hard end game content. I've spoken to a lot of people who used to get AOTC every their and 98% don't play anymore for the previous reasons. Bring back legion or even bfa Plz. I feel they only take advice for the top 1% sadly. If the only "casual" content is delves I don't feel this is enough, I will be bored by week 3 if just pushing delves is suppose to be my expansion I'm actually mad. Plz quit just making the game for the top 10%.
The scaling annoys the heck out of me. We started DF at 200k hp. Im constantly coming across random players in the Dragon Isles with 1.5mil hp now. Thats a 750% increase. A lvl 10 player that just finished the tutorial is closer in power to a fresh lvl 70 than a lvl 70 is to another lvl 70. Numbers are just going to get comical in TWW. 11.2 patch is going to be outrageous
Comment for the comment god
My first room was created during beta pull 2, served 2, in about July/aug of 2004. I just did a personal info act pull from blizzard and my wow account formally was made on 24nov04… and I remade my room Ghim (now Ghims due to server merging in 2009/10 – maybe later. I got my 10 year statue, and had an account through MOP. Legion, and WOD; however, I joined the army in 2006 (right around when AQ dropped) so I want from a hard core MC/BWL raider to a OT or 3rd tank or even OT for raid group 2. I have been casual ever since, I have now been in the army for 18 years, married for 16, have 5 kids, and a life outside of the screen. BFA was the first expansion that I couldn’t get into and play… I did in the first patch at release and got my heart of azoroth up to a pretty good power level…. But then I couldn’t keep up and quit. I played SL and got a room to 60 but after the first patch, for the first time in 18 years… I let ny account lapse. I’m back. I hope they find the balance between hard core grinders (which it’s their game also) and the people like me. I would love to get my wife and kids back into the game.
Still shilling?
This is me. I last played seriously during Legion, in BFA I got to max then quit. In Shadowlands I did Nathria heroic, then quit. DF I got to max, then quit, the setting and story just didn't interest me. The War Within feels far more "Warcraft" with higher stakes, class fantasy and interesting new features, a lot like Legion did, and so I'm more excited for it than anything in the past 8 years.
Reality: the business model is mobile RPG: buy wow token and boost or fall behind. Expect 20 hours a week minimum if no token.
Nope, looks kinda garbage imho.
I'm one of the casuals. I think there's a mindset that if a player says they're a casual player that they're a shitty player and that's why we don't do M+ or H/M raids which isn't the case for most of us. When I started playing back when TBC came out and worked with my guild to push as hard as we could. Through the years we got more and more casual because life happened. I've been a full casual player probably since midway through WOD.
I am Mid-core when should I bother to return?
I've kept up with world of warcraft info eventhough I stopped playing in bfa and have no interest in coming back
as a casual who mainly does PvP, the expansion I played the most was Legion because jumping into battlegrounds with alts was so easy, no gear required – just ding max level and que up immediately. I usually play 1-2 chars and in legion I had 8 because i didn't have to grind gear on all of them – I am hoping warbands provides a similar experience to general gameplay.
Very high end mythic raiding and dungeons cannot carry World of Warcraft by themselves. Whether those who like that content are willing to admit it or not, the game needs the casual players, the more casual players to prosper.
As someone who doesn’t enjoy mythic+ but love raids and have run them at heroic most seasons it’s just nice to see something added for players like me who don’t want to do m+.
It’s so frustrating to be pushing top dps numbers then slowly see everyone pass me because they choose to do m+ and they even prefer it to raiding. Solving the requirement for all content to revolve around the m+ track is along the correct path to bringing me back to the game. If I can sink more time into the game and compete at an even level without doing m+ then that is exactly what I want in wow.
I can back about a month ago after almost a decade long break I played religiously between 2011-2015 it’s very very strange being back so much is different now but I’m rather enjoying myself and im super excited about Warbands I think I’ll be back for awhile
Just saying, did you ever stop to think, maybe people are playing the game and not watching others play or talk about WoW?
I'm one of these people of who you speak. I'm now a dad and the warband changes and single player focus are appealing to me as something i can chip away at when I get time and slowly build my account back to what it was. I've always kept my account maxed by capping each class but could not even bring myself to do that in Dragonflight, I only got through 3 toons before i couldn't stomach it anymore. I haven't cared about retail seriously in about 8 years. Delves and solo dungeons with warband member and story mode raids will a super chill way to stay in touch with the game.
