PSA: In the video we state that NHL 94 had a regular season mode. That was a mistake as it's meant to mention the game's playoff mode.
As mentioned later, NHL 95 was the first to have a regular season
And now we have NHL 23…. So they are going backwards again 😢🤦☹️
Still garbage. Not even buying 22 i bought nba 2k22 instead. First nhl game i havent bought since 09
Cruel mistake to not offer a PC version anymore!!!!
I loved NHL 1994 and 2003 back then and would like to play it again. (Not quite sure if I remember the specific years correctly.)
The PC version was named NHL hockey because it was the first installment, but it was just as feature rich as the console games and beyond, with more accurate jerseys, national anthems, and a full on regular season and playoffs.
I'd have no problem with NHL games if ea knew how to make the ai. You can turn it to rookie or superstar and there's no difference. Some games they just want you to lose, no matter the difficulty. Cpu poke checks can be pretty ridiculous too. Sometimes they just skate by and suddenly have the puck. Just got 21 on sale in the Xbox store, they're getting better with everything else but need to work on some stuff. Still a long way to go before they make great hockey games. 2k needs to make them again, competition pushes people to be better.
Master Drive! I’d love to have one!
What’s the game on 0:17
The era of ea sports nhl I like the most is seventh generation Xbox 360 nhl 07 -14 just the golden era of nhl the whole Xbox 360 gen. Great games and I am the only person prefer the nhl 2k games to ea nhl back then. But still I used to loved nhl on Xbox 360 nhl 14 is right up there with 2k7 my favorite hockey game ever. that the most fun part of this video. But ever since nhl went to eighth generation it’s was no longer the same game as it once was. Gameplay has arguably gotten worse and less realistic than 2k hockey and nhl hitz nhl rivals 2004 and gretzky nhl 2005. Ever since nhl 15 it’s been more or less the same game with very little change the franchise mode is been dead. and season mode is also dead forever. be a pro has been forgotten. and i believe innovation and quality has been forgotten as well. since nhl 15. and I think the ea sports nhl franchise just totaly just you know just died in terms their features and game modes that used to be in the game and no longer are for unknown reason and truly stagnate and regress and sad decline in quality in lot of areas. Ea NHL and NHL 2k absolutely just completely destroyed everything that made both nhl 2k7 nhl 14 so awesome. ever since 15 its has not been the same. Hopefully they don’t make another mistake again, nhl 15-21 ps4 and xb1 are the most hated nhl games ever.
I personally would like it if they would upgrade appearances but implemented previous animation engines like from previous games. Like if the NHL09 (my favourite) Xbox 360 engine was used for this year's game. I would probably buy it. But would have to get a new console (I have Xbox 360). Thats my take.
Churching up some good points will not excuse the lame bugs and missing features they STRIP out every year. BOP mode no longer keeps correct career stats to name 1.
-1 on video for carefully walking around the bugs and stripped features every year.
There was no full season in NHL 94?
NHL 95 rocked my 14 year old self the world I remember seeing the commercial showing the trade option create a player GM mode full season this was groundbreaking especially when you were a kid like myself I spend hours just making players and making trades I'll trade you Richard smehlik Gary Gailey and Robb stauber for Wayne Gretzky trade accepted!!!!!!! Oh man I could not wait for Christmas that's all I ask for was NHL 95 for Super Nintendo I remember Christmas morning I opened it up and I didn't even open the rest of my gifts and I got my Sabres starter jacket and I got Tecmo Super Bowl that was like the best Christmas ever oh man what a good times I miss my childhood now I'm 41 years old fat miserable and I think about the past too much. Oh well I hope you all are well greetings from Buffalo New York
1994 / 2004 / 2014 are the best. Let's hope for 2024 then…
All EA needs to do is make a better Career Mode and they are set
This video glosses over or flat out ignore several issues such as "ice tilt".
Master Drive?! You mean Mega Drive.
For me personally, NHL hasn't been the same since they removed the player attributes from EASHL. I loved being able to build my player however I wanted using attribute points gained from playing and going from rookie to legend. There's really just no incentive to play drop ins anymore, which is what I almost always played on the 360 games. There's nothing to work towards or build. All you get are stupid bags that contain stuff that's mostly useless for drop in players since they also removed being able to select jerseys and teams. World of CHEL sucks. Bring back the Online Be A Pro mode from the 360 days. Let us build our players how we want and use whatever jersey and team we want in drop ins!
I think we can all agree that NHL 2004 or 09 was the peak of NHL games
I play Madden franchise, the Show franchise, and NHL franchise. I used to play FIFA but could never get into it like the other 3. But out of those 4, NHL has had the best franchise by far, with the Show coming second. My first NHL game was 17, and havent stopped since. I genuinely enjoy doing the expansion draft and building a team from scratch every year.
EA needs Bob Cole on play by play
I like everything up till the end where I have to completely disagree NHL 18 was garbage19 was even worse and 20 is practically unplayable do the amount of glitches and bugs in the damn thing I'm not sure how you can say that twenties even comparable to what they did on the PS3 and Xbox 360 usually I don't disagree with you guys cuz sgo is pretty accurate but on that ending I have two say that talking out your ass there friend and as for ever getting back to the good old days it's never going to happen while you have players buying ultimate team pack until people speak with their wallets this series is not going to get any better in fact it's just getting worse .
Bring in a high quality gm connected for nhl 21 and you’re set
The history of MLB/MLB The Show
Great video! Very accurate to the highs and lows of the series! I really liked NHL 20 and in many ways I feel the series has somewhat returned to its Xbox 360 level, although I’d argue the gameplay is still better in the current gen than in the previous gen. I hope they don’t make the same mistakes with NHL 21 and beyond with the Xbox Series X and PS5
