According to multiple sources, EA Sports is working on a next-gen baseball video game. There has been no mention of what consoles the new game would likely be on, but it could be assumed that EA Sports Baseball will be on PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X|S at least.

The last EA Sports Baseball game was MVP 07: NCAA Baseball. The last MLB game from the company was MVP Baseball 2005 on Xbox, Gamecube, PS2, and PC. The current AAA Baseball market has been dominated by MLB The Show.

We’ve reached EA for comment, but haven’t heard back.

  1. Combine MVP Baseball with OOTP Baseball so it’s a playable manager with dynasties, seasons, and championship runs. Use the MVP batting and hitting styles with some updated tweaks and you would have a new best selling BB game. <~~~~period

  2. if EA can relieve the grief of bunt cheesing, R2 spamming, H2H replays, pause abuse, and over emphasis on power hitting then i’m there.

gameplay isn’t important to The Show developers. they rely too much on big name players to carry the product.

    san diego studios needs challenged.

  3. I love it! The more competition the better for baseball gaming in general. It makes each developer work that much harder to deliver a great game. Now we just need some competition in the other sports.

  4. There AFTER TOU #EA THEYVE BEEN AFTER TOU A WHILE NOW CHASING AND HUNTING EVERYTHING TALKING BAD AND CALLING TOU NAMES I DINT KNOW WHAT TO DO #ELECTRONICARTS THIS A NIGHTMARE TOTALLY A NIGHTMARE HAS TO BE THE WORLD IS UN TOPSY TURBY SITUATION LOW ENERGY AND NOTHING TO DO AND LOW CURRENCY HARPYS MAYBE IMPS AND ODD BALLS RELATED OR NOT THUS IS A FREAKING HEADACHE HELPPPPP….. A FEW OTHERS DAYS YEARS

  5. Nice to hear that Super Mega Baseball will be left alone…for now, at least. I love those games. When they say "spin-off games" I'm guessing other sports titles with the "Super Mega" branding and style?

  6. If they can get some of the personnel who worked on MVP 2005, then it would be a slam dunk. With this being the 1st potential MLB title in years I think it will be a good game. The Show is fine but I don’t think it’s all that. I liked EA and 2K baseball games more for my needs. Anyhow more choices is a great thing imho.

  7. I can assure you that MLB the show has nothing to worry about they've been making these games for years if EA is making this one from the ground up it's going to be sorry is probably going to be another micro transaction it's not going to be Mvp baseball it's just another game to get hyped about with empty promises like EA NBA live! Me personally I'm not excited! Only EA would Try to compete with the show

  8. I still have the last EA MVP baseball game from 2005. It was a great game and was disappointed when they stopped making it.
Nice to hear they are coming back and hope it isn't a massive change.
I've played The Show since then but have only bought a couple years worth of them and none since 2017.
