Im going to say this but thank god this was recorded on a wax cylinder……
This Happens When I Was 8 Years Old In The 3rd Grade When Bobby Labonte Took That Wild Ride On His Roof The Whole Way,Accidentally Draw A Multi-Car Wreck.
This happened just like the Xfinity Race in July 2016.
I miss that restrictor plate sound, bring it back please
Cars involved:
#01 Jason Leffler
#2 Rusty Wallace
#4 Bobby Hamilton Jr.
#5 Terry Labonte
#9 Bill Elliott
#10 Johnny Benson
#12 Mike Wallace
#18 Bobby Labonte
#22 Ward Burton
#28 Ricky Rudd
#31 Robby Gordon
#32 Ricky Craven
#40 Sterling Marlin
#44 Buckshot Jones
#77 Robert Pressley
#88 Dale Jarrett
Kenny Wallace finished 6th in the 1 car. Way to go Herman!
you said that right
It seems to me that Jr's strategy was similar to last years 2000 Winston 500: Lead at the end. His move on the final lap was identical to the 2000 race. The only difference was that Sr won in 2000, and Jr finished umpteenth. Take a look at the 2000 finish.
Surprising 3rd place finish for Jeff Burton, considering Talladega has historically not been kind to Roush Racing save for the spring of 1995 and 1997.
Jason Leffler barely missed that wreck and finished 11th.
RIP
The good ol days of restricter plate racing
talladega and daytona finishes are always the this
ths is in Nascar thunder 2003
GREATEST. FINAL LAP. EVER.
Also, nowadays, the finish of the race would have been determined by the order of the cars when the yellow light flashed, rather than racing back to the caution. BRING THAT BACK, BRAINDEAD FRANCE, PLZ!!!! YOUR GENIUS GRANDDADDY AND DADDY MUST BE REAL FUCKING PROUD OF YOU ABOUT HOW YOU CHANGED NA$CAR-AW, FUCK IT, THEY'RE ROLLING OVER IN THEIR FUCKING GRAVES!!!!!
between this and the oct 2000 talladega race, probably the best last 5 laps ever.
I remember being 7 years old and seeing Bobby Labonte's car flip over…I was like "They can do that?" XD
Its funny how at certain parts of the finish the commentators are in such shock at what their seeing that they cant say anything at times
@battalionfan888 here we are 2 years later and the quality is still shit
It would have been awesome if Rudd had pulled a Ricky Bobby and just got out of his car and ran across the finish line.
This was back before Sprint completely altered the overall tone of the sport. This was also back whenever DEI started their dominance at all of the restrictor plate tracks. And, this is back whenever nobody could really touch Junior at Talladega. The 2001 fall event is where he began his string of four consecutive wins at the track. If I remember correctly, this particular race wasn't credited as being one of the greatest finishes in NASCAR History.. That's insane. This finish was amazing.
Hard to believe all of the top 10s and top 5s Labonte has at superspeedways yet he only has 1 win (at Talladega).
@JonPilat111 I know, Bobby should have taken the outside line to get momentum and get it away from Jimmie
@zandylovesrisk i remember the 05 coke 600 so close i was rooting for him there and jimmie got him at the line
@JonPilat111 Yeah, very true. I'm just sad that Bobby came so close to winning a Sprint Cup race and finished 4th since is last win was in Homestead-Miami Nov 2003
@zandylovesrisk good thing he didnt or else bayne wouldnt've one the 500 if ya think about it
I remember that after Bobby flipped, I started to cry because I thought he died(favorite driver and this was after Dale Sr dying)
back when jr lived up to his last name.
@battalionfan888 did this vhs pass thru the washing machine?
The finish to one of the wildest races in NASCAR history…
no i mean its grainy and blurry
one of the best races of 2001 though!!!
whats with the quality???
