Here's the problem with Wow's story. Anytime they try to add deep meaning to the story they fall flat on their faces. Wow's storytelling is at its best when its simple, and clean cut. Look at the highest peak the story had, Arthas. His character was simple, his reasons for what he did could be understood by anyone, and no one had to talk to him about his feelings.

I did the starting event for the game and went to the room where you got the necklace in BFA and the first thing I said if I get another item that I have to level up I’m canceling the sub and uninstalling the game.

our MT is RL and GL and he carried our gilde from expension to expension. he is one of a kind.
nice to see the course correction at blizzard in regards to the story.
However that finally pushed me is when they stopped calling them patches are started calling them seasons and went hard on removing the world progression in the game. "Just jump to 2 newest expansions and skip everything before it" They've got a rich world with lots to do but no reason to do anything outside what is the newest shiniest thing and doing HARD gear resets each patch.
The endgame focus killed the journey and the journey should be just as if not more important than the endgame. It's a design problem they've had for years and its to late to fix now. All they do is move the goalpost closer and closer while also making the field bigger.
Mage is going to be insane this expac. All 3 specs are looking really good and solid for PvE content

I like his explanation about the addon effect and the issues it brings. Especially in low-mid tier guilds, ppl don't know half of the things their addons do, or what even their characters are capable of.
Usually I like to use addon packages because they are pre-planned and organized to be efficient (I'm lazy to do it myself on 3-4 diff alts), but at the end half of the addons gets deleted or replaced after install (Bag addons, auctioneers, etc.). When you can't execute your rotation without crutches, than the issues will come up real quick in a raidfight, with or w/o addons.
Danggit, I just uninstalled WoW from my gaming laptop a week ago, cause I thought the same thing! I ways loved playing for the story as well, so if the story is good…..

60 to 70 doing just the prepatch event took me less than an hour
The big problem for me with World of Warcraft's story was that, for the Horde, it was a story about a bunch of monsters coming together to be more than monsters… and then the narrative forcing you to punch yourself in the balls and saying "No, you can't be more, you're genocidal monsters, and fuck you for trying to be more."
And for the Alliance it's a story about standing against monsters that want to destroy you… oh except for those you have to play nice with them even though they want to murder you. Oh, and the neutral groups get all your cool stuff. Not you.

I have not played WoW since Wrath, and I will never play it ever again.
But as a former Horde player, that bit at the end just made me "AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" with a sense of pride.

I quit raiding in games BECAUSE of AddOns being REQUIRED BY GUILD LAW!
I found people that needed AddOns were dumber than me and I identify as Stupid which made me lose faith in a guild rapidly til I just gave up.

Do people not care about classes and gameplay and combat anymore? Or am I like the last of a dying breed or something? Those have been my biggest issues with WoW since I left after WotLK and came back for the start of BfA. Classes are just so dull and boring and uninspiring to play.
Speaking truth. I play wow strictly as a casual now and I still have some skills like riding a bike but there are minute things I haven’t deep dive into my class for healing in awhile to actually be at the top. Because I don’t really care about hardcore raiding. It doesn’t fit my life anymore.
But back in classic through legion? Yeah I was crushing that shut as one of the top holy priest on the whole server. And I witnessed the issues with all the power resting on a player. RAID leaders as tanks are always bad. They may understand what they need to position a boss or a mob, but they don’t have an understanding of any of the range and what they are doing. Hell they rarely know what the healers are doing and they sometimes screw themselves losing los to the all the healers.
You need your main tank, even your secondary tank – to focus on that. RAID leader should always be a ranged class.
Now some people can certain run a guild and be raid leader – but you want to split that up because you don’t want too much power testing with one player. The main tank has a lot of power because some bosses will feel impossible without them. You spend a lot of effort as a guild to have that tank with the best gear.
So they are vital. Then your raid leader is also vital. They need to ve experts at the fight or, if the fight has never been beaten – they need to quick learn and give clear commands. That’s easiest to do from range: then your guild leader is like the peace keeper. Disputes over loot, a raid leader getting too aggressive, a frustration of a tank – the guild leader balances that out. When it’s all one person, it becomes too big of a power Dynamic between them and the rest of the guild.
Now, the best of the best, can have one of those people typically serve two of the 3 roles. But that’s at the very top.
I agree that newbies or, casual player, rely on what addons tell them. Does it yell st me to dispel? Well maybe in this fight, for that spell, you don’t actually want to dispel it? Does it say oh this person needs heals or is target with x y and a? Whatever the command it shouts out may not be correct.
Whenever I take long breaks from the game, I come back and disable all addons and do my dungeon runs, leveling, and a few public raids without addons. It’s a nice test for me to make sure I still understand what needs to be done.
Then, after that, I’ll reenable addons. I feel like this makes me a better player.
I’ll probably never work my way back to be one of the best because frankly, I ain’t got time to dedicate to doing so. But my main goal is no matter what I am doing – don’t be useless
0:16 they are completing the real story and I’m here for it. It also helped me accept battle for Azeroth and shadowlands as lore because it feels there will be a full circle of the story. With the story complete they could just keep upgrading the graphics.
