I was a big fan of the Dawn of the Infinite, but you are definitely right on the pugging & leaving aspect. People will 100% just leave when they get to their boss. I like how they timed the release so that you can do something new with a few items that would be an upgrade. Then the following season, some of that gear was still useful (cheat death for tanks for example) so you'd still want to run it. I dont know if Mega Dungeons are quit the answer, but adding some new content mid-season with a few upgrades is def something they should look at. Maybe it's a 2-3 boss dungeon with just a big chest at the end & you get 2-3 bosses worth of loot at once, similar to M+ but no timer and 4 pieces might drop instead of just 2.
Drop raid & mythic plus. After a month or two when people are almost completely geared, drop a mega dungeon or the mini 2-3 boss dungeon so that it adds new content & new upgrades to keep the gear grind going. It seems like they are doing something similar by releasing another raid for the anniversary. New gear to go after. I like that.
I wish WoW was balanced around 10 man raiding. Revamp the whole system to a fixed 10 man
I have a more cosmopolitan mindset and think everything should be solo queue, Mythic raid and M+ as well. I don't like how compartmentalized the game is, how everyone sits in their own bubbles and never interacts with the other players. This started really coming about after Legion, when my own guildies would PUG M+ all day and if you didn't want to or couldn't, you got left behind and those guildies don't bother offering to help you in lower content, they've essentially left you in the dust, same with the player base. Legion also had a way of getting good players to go into lower content because of TF, legendaries, AP, etc.
Blizzard wants us to continue to work from the bottom up. Form guild first, network first, organize first. Wouldn't it just be easier to go top down now? Just get everyone together with solo queue, then let them figure out comms and strategy AFTER. You even start from the bottom with IO and arena rating, from literal zero.
The very first online multiplayer games I played, you always started the game neutral and had to find your alliance while you were in game, people didn't used to start games on teams.
I think they're being lazy by making the game seasonal also. They can't design anything that holds up for 6+ months. I have single player games that I've played for years.
old player here and ex mythic player, this days i just solo players since my old guild die, never cud find a good guild again, wow this days is all about addons, meta shit and if you don't do hi logs you can't get Anyware and the player base are so bad on doing mechs they usually outdps the content….if you not get hi IO early you can't get any invites where the wall is…and 98% of the guild don't help anyone and don't do content with normal players even when they are good…..prob cuz the sellers control of the end game. game is great but the player behavior is shit….so yeah solo player is the only play for many….fuck the elite 😛
easy fix:
put all mega dungeons in a each dungeon 2 week rotation
make them drop gear 606
make that gear upgradable with mega dungeon specific currency to 619 or drop champion and have a "hard mode" to drop hero.
easy. And im not even a game designer. just a gamer (maybe thats the trick?)
Nah, this ain't it….get rid of the auto que, crossrealm shit, bring back the sense of 1 server world(community)…..and stop balances based on pvp…you just can't kill all classes evenly, cry harder.
I feel like mega dungeons kinda died out (minus the 1 per expansion) because they had to. When we were young in 06/08, we could spend 30 minutes LFGing, then going to Searing Gorge/Burning Steppes and spend an hour + just doing it. It was fun, it was unique back then. Can't so now when we're all in our late 20s/30s, etc and have adult responsibilities.
As for difficulty, normal Rookery has more mechanics than most classic raids. Like, mechanical difficulty increases every expansion, we're just getting better at handling them. Honestly, much of the difficulty in the past was down to 2 things:
– We were just worse players back then, less experienced
– Gearing and the related scaling with it was just whack. Don't have a core group/raid? GG, you're hard capped at running normal dungeons.
You'll learn just as much about the key from depleting, sometimes more, than you will timing it. The mindset that a depleted key is meaningless is one of the reasons why people are struggling to progress in m+. It takes practice, as does anything that is a challenge.
If the reason for not liking timed content is because I have a new born and I need to take a 5 minute break, that is another conversation. Also – wow does have mega dungeons, since legion. Is the point all dungeons should be mega dungeons, or just 2-3 more?
Mega dungeon or 5 man raid? But instead of dropping items (aside from extremely rare recipes or mounts) bosses should drop a currency that can turned in for all kinds of different rewards.
okay but why is Tyrande being a foot dommy mommy in the thumbnail?
3 hour Ubrs or Lbrs runs lol
I miss having to coordinate the use CC. Everything is mass pull now. I hate it.
As a healer I can not stand chasing tanks around. I've played alot over a 18 year duration and still tank effective using traditional pulling methods.
Yea tanking in M+ right now is the most toxic thing I have done in any video game. One little mistake and everyone just loses there shit like I'm some sort of robot that should play absolutely flawless. I just stopped running M+ all together. It's not relaxing whatsoever I play video games to unwind and enjoy not be yelled at for any little mistake. The funny thing is it's always DPS that have probably never tanked and try to act like they are some sort of video gaming god that never makes a mistake. There is alot more to it then just following the leader and button mashing. Is anyone else experiencing this?
They can and have done this, it was called protocal dungeons in classci wrath. They were untimed, had increased damage and health and like 1 or 2 simple affixes to deal with. It was M+ without the timers. This game is trying to compete with esport games that were designed around esport competition as its foundation. WoW was built as a casual game to counter the likes of everquest and Ultima Online. You can't innovate a game that is gated by a 30 year old engine that has its limits. WoW is due for a reboot, it has become bloated and you will never get new players to try the game and stick to it the the level of learning curve this game has. Its intimidating for any new player, I can say this safely since I have been playing the game since 2007.
" give me hard content , but dont make it hard "
The best state the game was ever in, was in TBC , where you had heroic dungeons , you had arena that was really good, and you had the best raids imo
No, we’ve open pandoras box. It’s not going back to the way it was.
Loved raiding but managing or even being a part of a 20-25 person roster is a massive nightmare and flex is often way to unbalanced when you try and do it with just 10-12 people and it is generally to easy (for me). Sadly even know I'd want to raid again personally don't think they can fix any of it's current problems as it is more a social thing more then anything else. No locks on mythic and making it for a much smaller size wouldn't fix it and I don't think they could make heroic hard enough where a player like me wouldn't clear it fast enough my guild would fall apart waiting for the next raid months later as no one wants to do farm content for more then a few weeks.
The solution is to play classic again. What you're talking about is exactly the reason that people like to play freah classic servers.
World of warcraft was a ROLE PLAYING Game not just a clicky game and they converted it to crap and polished it to what it is now. it all started when they redid the old combat system.
I want to do mythics I like a challenge, but the pacing of it makes me hate it. It feels like one long non stop pull. For the average player it's almost near impossible id wager for someone to come in and do well under the constant pressure that doesn't stop until the end.
