EA SPORTS WRC vs Richard Burns Rally

Let’s try to figure out whether RBR is really the only rally simulator, and what is EA Sports WRC then? And I think I’m the perfect person to do it. Because I’m a fan of Dirt Rally 2.0, the previous game from Codemasters, who are currently working on EA Sports WRC, and I’m also a fan of RBR.

  1. Man if you're using mine (and other's) videos maybe you should ask for permission or at least give some credit. You even cropped the clips so the original authors won't be seen. And then you voiceover it all with AI. An absolute shitshow

  2. Absolutely impressive video…this is good for people who want drive rally game and thinking wich game suit for me best…and what things are important to you…if you like realism sim rally RBR is defenitly best choice imo

  3. I have a PC worth 2600€, and EA WRC still has shuttering problems and lag. I can't reach 90 FPS on low settings!! In Dirt Rally 2.0, I have all settings on high, and I have had 160+ FPS!!

  4. We can't compare a game from 2024 to one from 10 years ago. WRC has better graphics without a doubt, the environments are more real, but if we see RBR it leaves it for ko in terms of real stages, a game is not based on graphics only, also on people enjoying it, and how do you enjoy a game like this of rally? So you have a game from 10 years ago that people are still playing today, thanks to the moderators, an example is Colín McRae has been released one after the other, improved but they do not take more than 2 years to release another and another. Without a doubt, RBR is and will be an eternal rally game

  5. Consider KT WRC wasnt having much QA improvements like Telemtary comparing tool in EAs Racenet App for PC and Mobile being able to host clubs with your phone.

    Its enjoyable

  6. This is a really weird review
As someone who spent almost 300 hours in EA WRC over the year I'll comment on some things you either got wrong or misrepresented.

I will not comment on the physics of the cars as I am not actually familiar with RBR or IRL rally car handling.
I will however say that you firstly for some reason talk about damage models twice in the video, secondly don't seem to mention the fact that WRC has 2 damage models (normal and hardcore, same as it was in DR2.0), thirdly definetely don't say that the hardcore damage model while not as punishing as would be most realistic, still is pretty damn punishing, as a little mistake most likely will cost you a lot of time and will strongly impact the cars performance, so that you may lose several minutes to the competition.
Also the visual damage model while not perfect, is much better than a lot of modern racing games, and we shouldn't really expect beam-ng-like soft-body damage models in games for quite some time still.
EA WRC is definetely not well optimised, though having a lot of (relatively) highres textures with hindreds of kilometers of stages taking up less than 100gb is impressive as dr2.0 had like half of that take up 120gb, which i guess is why they moved tto unreal engine. I do hope that they get more accustomed to unreal and make either this or the next game more stable and optimised.
Also you just did not mention the fact EA WRC has a built in livery editor, which, while pretty basic, does let you create awesome liveries, and that also you could insert custom liveries into the game files with some tech knowledge.
The online aspect does not live via quick play online, all the semi-serious competitions are done using Racenet clubs, and there are communities with a lot of those, so it is definetely alive and kicking.
Lastly: RBR I think is not available on console, which is important for many (also you couldnt download tracks, cars and liveries there anyways), while EA WRC has full cross-platform support via the aforementioned Racenet.

So yeah, I get it, the main thing is the car handling, and from what I know, RBR blows the competition out of the water, still it only lives because of communities and modders, has no really interesting singleplayer gamemodes and the quality of content is highly reliant on the mod author.
There is definetely still a lot to work on with EA WRC for codies, but there also is a lot of fun to be had in their game.

  7. i don't have ea wrc but vr in rbr is perfect. vr in dirt rally 2.0 is horrible, the car bounces around while your sitting positing stay fixed. So if the car tilt 45 degrees, your sitting position remains upright which makes me feel disconnected from the car. (maybe there is a setting to fix that i am not aware of). Hopefully this ain't the case with ea wrc.

  8. In every similar video people tend to forget (or don't know) about DR 1.0 with physics MOD, probably the best blend of fun and realism in sim racing history, the only issue was a very limited content in DR 1.0…

  9. With RBR, surviving a stage feels like an accomplishment. Rallysimfans adding a season mode in the latest version is great, I look forward to them bringing more classes and allowing non standard stages to be used. VR in RBR is absolutely wild, doing a rallysimfans online rally in VR is just so great.

EA WRC I still find fun, but there is no sense of danger in it like RBR.

  10. In the end if you want to have the must fun, then EA Sports WRC is your game. However if you want the most raw version of rallying where you will have to put in the work to get better then RBR is your game.
