I think she is pregnant with Mel, and the lamb represents Kino. She was gonna survive since she passed Kindreds trial, but she had to sacrifice kino to save Mel. Of course it wasn’t until years later he died, but I feel like this is what truly sealed his fate. Ambessa knew deep down Kino was simply living on borrowed time.
