  1. I played WOW WOTLK back in 2008 until 2009 and totally forgot about it, back in the day the expansion wasn't fully released so I just covered the first phase. When it launched back in 2022 I went back to finish what I couldn't many years ago.. I loved this expansion so much and I had some of the best moments while raiding with my buddies.

  2. The trailer only does you justice if you know the story behind The Lich King (Arthas). The one talking to Arthas in his mind, is his father when he was younger and before he became the Lich King.

  3. It's a shame that you can't appreciate the restraint in story-telling in this cinematic, whether you're a WoW fan or not. You seem to be asking for more. More action, more effects, more etc. That says a lot about how you receive game cinematics and trailers. There's an entire story told in this cinematic with a character that stands all alone and never speaks. I hope you learned something about how this kind of cinema is really done. Good luck to you.

  4. This cinematic is actually part 2(in a way). It picks up right where we last saw arthas (sitting on throne) in 2003. So back in days, after years of waiting seeing Arthas getting up from frozen throne…everyone was instantly sold.

  5. You weren't impressed? Seriously? Look at the year this was released. This was the best of the best out there at that time. It is still well above most cinematics nowadays.

  6. "LET THEM COME, FROUSTMOURNE HUNGERS". Arthas, WoW. Gotta get into the Starcraft Universe, specifically Starcraft 2, another Blizzard product, the trailers and cinematics are just as epic.

  7. The quote lines make this even MORE EPIC when you understand the lore behind Arthas.
They are a total opposite of what he became and that itself gives me chills everytime I watch this cinematic.
The voice acting, timing, epic graphics and shots just make it 10/10 cinematic and literally #1 in gaming for me.

  8. This trailer actually pulls up much more emotions from players who have played warcraft 3 and the frozen throne. And for the time hardly even AAA titles had any animation Close to warcraft

  9. The upsacale (AI or basic) realy messed up the dimensions of the skulls on his chest (opening) and the light from original and the dragon tones; but the snow looked gorgeous.
For a 15 year old trailer I say they did good.

  10. Would be amazing if for their 20th or 25th Anniversary Blizzard remade some of their older trailers using the technology they employ now. Even if that means the in-game cinematics like the Wrathgate using the modern in-game cinematic engine.

  11. Something to keep in mind. Arthas was one of the most iconic characters in the history of Warcraft. So while not as bombastic as some of the later cinematics, this one carried a lot of story and history.

  12. You should definitely watch and react to the videos below;

3-The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Launch Cinematic (released 8 years ago)

  13. I've been watching all your recent reactions to Blizzard's cinematics, and its so great to watch someone geek out on how amazingly they are done and the respect given from someone in the industry to a team that just always delivers is a real pleasure to see. The three StarCraft cinematic trailers for Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void are of the same epic scale as the Diablo and WoW universes, and while they might be starting to show their age a bit, especially compared to The War Within cinematic, they still rank up there in my top favorites.

  14. So… how exactly can one judge the quality of the graphics if you're altering them, or… viewing it through a filter?
It looks "good", but it's very different than the original. I think "better" would very much be a matter of opinion here. (the color of his armor is definitly off, the teal light reflections are coming off as color tinted metal to me)

  15. All in all, Arthas's story is one of the best and most tragic in all of Warcraft. Another layer to this trailer that's not obvious to someone unfamiliar with Warcraft: the music playing in the background is entitled "Arthas, My Son" and the lyrics aren't just gibberish; they're from an in-game language called Common and have a translation. They mirror the dramatic irony of the voiceover by Arthas's father, Terenas.

    An Karanir Thanagor,
    Mor Ok Angalor.
    Mor Ok Gorum
    Palahm Raval.
    Ro-mun A'l Ga
    Ballog A'l Enthu
    Korok Na Boda…
    Ha! Ma! Da! Ma!
    Erigo Eo Draco Modo!
    Mor Ok Gorum Pala'ahm
    Mor Ok Croval Angalor
    Thanagor…
    Mor Ok Gorum
    Pala Ah'm raval
    Specto Su Praesenti…
    Caligo Caelum…
    Mor Ok Croval Anga'lor
    Karanir Thanagor….
    Karanir Thanagor!

    Long live the king,
    May he reign forever.
    May his strength
    fail him never.
    First in battle
    last in retreat.
    Even in death…
    Ha! Ma! Da! Ma!
    Raise this dragon now!
May his strength fail him never
    May his reign last forever
    King…
    May his strength
    fail him never
    See his power…
    Darken the sky…
    May his reign last forever
    Long live the king…
    Long live the king!

The theme is delivered by a boy soprano to represent Arthas himself. One particular quest in this expansion has the player encounter a young boy who is eventually revealed to be the embodiment of the last good, human remnant of Arthas's soul, which has been corrupted and consumed by the cursed sword he wields. "Arthas, My Son" and its variations (collectively known as "O Thanagor") appear at some of the most dramatic points in the expansion, possibly most notably at the end, when (SPOILER ALERT for a fifteen-year-old story?) the heroes defeat Arthas. You can easily find the in-game cutscene on YouTube, called "Fall of the Lich King."

  16. Arthas in this trailer is a tragic hero, he was a young prince and he was very righteous, after becoming obsessed with the dreadlord that plagued his people and they became undead , he made many bad choices , he went to Northrend chasing him where he picked up the cursed sword and finally became the lich king which you see in this trailer , for us wow fans this is peak wow lore
