If they make this mmo like albion where I can access from mobile, I am going to have NO LIFE forever.
I would say the people responsible for building a multi billion dollar business know more about managing their money than a random shmuck on reddit making a post.
Whether the budget was inline or outside industry norms, its an enormous amount, and makes me think no new TV shows are in the works anytime soon. I'm not in the industry, but the budget probably wasn't eaten in development but production and marketing.
I love that Riot does make things for their own sakes. But just like the Legends of Runeterra and Riotforge experience shows, they're not the type of company to continue losing money for the love of a thing. They'll do what they do, say been there done that, and move on.
I myself am not a LoL player. I'm a LoR player. I tried LoL, but the learning curve is not worth the effort when also dealing with hostile players criticizing your every action. I got enough of that toxicity in my Overwatch days, and am done putting up with it. LoR introduced me to the LoL universe though, and I love it. Especially their non-game media. I look forward to whatever tv show, film, or even comic they put out.
In terms of shows, comic books, lore and games about League:
The worst part about League of Legends, is league of legends. 😂
The monetization getting objectively worse, skin quality objectively getting worse, benching shyvanas rework cus of arbitrary themeing they decided they wanted to do for seasons, phreaks inability to balance the game, riot burying their head in the sand and ignoring players complaints are all reasons my desire to play has dropped off almost completely. Legit when their last dev vlog (the one before today’s) came out that was my straw I guess I genuinely can’t find the energy to play this game anymore even though I like the characters.
I played like 13 years league. It's like being married a toxic wife and you cant get divorced. Toxic players are not getting an actual ban. I mean some kind of ip ban. I wanna mention about new players too if you are new in this game It s very hard to play against a veteran player. And There is toxic players maybe they creating new accounts and harrass new players too. There is a lot of players have multiple accounts. This is ridiculous.
I stopped playing ranked like 9 years ago and I m not missing it. Just playing aram for stress relief. That's all this game for me because ranked is not offering anything just one skin maybe but its not worth my time. Unless you are making money out of it or you are a content creator
At least Jinx skin being the biggest flop in history made me want play Elementalist Lux again and appreciate whoever put the effort into making that skin more
The problem with League of Legends is very simple…..
Lack of real competition.
There is one game that could easily compete with League of Legends. Unfortunately, they do not advertise on the west and do not have thr same MOBA game mode as League.
The game is ETERNAL RETURN. It is a survival battle royal, kind of like Supervive.
I hear the sentiment if this title all the time… I still play v bots or tft i have no issue with the game at all.
I want to play league.
But I don't want Vanguard on my PC even more than that. Sorry.
I must say that for me arcane did make me want to play LOL again.
I've been playing LOL for 15 years and the toxicity was always there. Maybe it was not as bad as these days, but maybe we were just jung.
Over the years we stopped plaing many times. These days we play in full party or not at all. After work we're not in mood for toxic rage kids.
riot will waste hundreds of millions of dollaridoos on all of their giga expensive ads for league (arcane, worlds, msi), instead of just making the game not dogshit… lul. I also wonder if that tryndamere guy really believes the dogshit he spews on leddit, lmao. Not like the playerbase is blind, they can see where the game is going, it's definitely not going towards being more player-friendly with its monetization, awful balancing, dogshit new champ releases, gutting of communication, awful bot muting for literally anything, etc… and they tried baiting all the arcane normies in with the new season trailer being the same artstyle as arcane… so detached from reality all the creatures making decisions at riot..
Good News Then
me no want league of legends no more
me want more series like arcane
riot please give, NOW
Tryndamere cope.
Game is dying. Tyler1 is keeping it alive.
The MMO will spike for a couplw months, then go the New World route to financial loss.
Also, Arcane season 2 was abysmal.
Where is that Tryndamere comment from? Never get sources for posts in your videos and so hard to fact check these things.
This is the problem. Riot has established lore and characters that are actually super well written and interesting. Fortiche has the ability to take the lore and characters and make it come alive on the big screen. Netflix has deep pockets to pay for all of it. You'd think this would be a match made in heaven right? Wrong. Riot, instead banking on this opportunity and making countless new viewers along with retaining old ones, wants to continue to push its outdated game from 2009.
Thats the problem.
"Getting flamed and farming minions so you can hit a base…" is probably the best synopsis of league ever.
Star citizen got announced before gta6 lmao (i mean they gave a release window for the singleplayer)
This video was hard to watch. Riot is required to focus on maximising shareholder value, so money is always the number one priority.
I haven't played in forever but if they made all the characters free that might get me back in. Since selling characters does nothing why keep that archaic practice around anymore? Getting the in game currency to buy characters was so slow already.
chat, where is Ezreal
I have been enjoying League cinematics & music videos for years.
They're truly incredible, & so much of that music is fire.
Arcane is one of the best TV shows I've ever watched.
But I have zero desire to play League. Quite frankly the setting is wasted on that game.
When Riot makes a big RPG, or an MMO. Then I'll be interested.
I loved League of Legends, have 2k hours on it, today it’s feels too stale and the same every time. Even with the new changes, objectives etc. and that’s the weird part.
There was a meme with this cartoon were a guy stand on a road and has to choose left or right. It read "after arcane". Left for lol and right for Fanfics.
I think this explains how people are feeling. Lol is not arcane but people want more about the characters, the story etc.
Making a bunch of 2d slides is harder than making a 3d model and contorting it. In anime they often use 3d models to cut corners.
In my experience, the new Arcane players had a bad time, played a few times then left. As you come to the game as a genuinely new players, everyone feels so experienced. There I have a little opponent Ekko who also played only Viktor and Caitlyn twice before. My 300k mastery Hwei chuckled.
It's good timing for people to realize league is not fun because smite 2 is releasing I believe this january 15th.
The "we make skins to make arcane" is a lie.
Else they would make shows about skinlines.
Not creating new one after the show.
And I know they mean money-wise. But come on. We know that's not why they make money
Riot should ditch kernel anti cheat software and anything related to infecting your PC on kernel level. Its crazy why this is accepted… I wouldn't touch anything from them while this is still common practice.
I quit playing league because of the community. I will absolutely try the mmo, especially if they link it to the entire world
Hate PVP, but love single player games, even MMOs with single player options. Once the MMO drops, I'll be in!
League not gonna recover from their present character design unless they just simply delete their 8 years of recent progress.
The character design has been the same for a while, all they do is Korean fantasy girl 1,2,3,4,5,6 and next character will be Korean fantasy number x.
Then some dragon and that doesn't even fit the scheme.
Yuumi and Naafiri are a cat and a dog, another anatomically familiar which they just referenced from cat and dog videos.
Something clearly happened after 2017 that dampened the character design and it has continued for 8 years.
And when you get to the client after watching the show it is all about "This girl and tha giRL AND MORE GIRLS IN ANIME GIRL ACTION!" (note that girls =/= women).
Even the male characters are feminized that fit into some K-Drama to have a dream about being a ballet dancer.
Of course people gonna come to the game in hopes of seeing some new interesting characters from the show which are cherry picked by their interesting design from 10 years ago.
And all you get is some Korean "rough hands are disgusting" mentality driven garbage.
TBH League as a game is dying
bullshit. china/tencent wants to make everything in the West woke trash.
"how can we make sure more players will/can play these games" is a very funny question. maybe dont entirely exclude linux users, idk 😄
>We are not focused on the short term extraction of profits
>Introduce FOMO skins, FOMO events and gacha
Yeah, and remember guys, Riot is a company that cares about you because that's what companies do, we are not the same as those others greedy companies like EA or Ubisoft, no no we are better not the same search for exponential profits no no, only driving by the love we have for you yeah yeah
That was tottaly stupid to say that they sell skins for them to provide for the people 🤮 they are owned by an asian multimillion company they do what they are asked nothing more
nobody wants to play league, why? because of the toxic sweater proplay scene and players, the same thing that allways kills any game, the competitive bullshit META, and to be honest the game has turned Boring and repetitive, with the overcomplicated champions and items, to the point you get defeated by a 10 year old that made his build in an Excel sheet.
RIOT GIVE US LEGO ARCANE
Arcane was fantastic, unless you're a Warwick fan.
Riot killing the milestone that is league of legends by retcon'ing its original lore, identity AND fanbase, was THE biggest mistake they could've ever made…
Cap, i play league almost every day
Saying skins are not sold bcs of the shows but rather to gather money to get more shows, that's just slippery word manipulation. If they were supposed to be losing money, they simply wouldn't do it. they make money, make shows, make more profit (on skin sales, series itself, more upcoming games) and the cycle just continues. Now I play league, and from my understanding, Riot is basically removing FTP options to actually get any good skins. FTP players will not be getting basically any rewards whatsoever, just to force more skin sales and profit. They implemented skin gambling pretty much, under the arcane exalted Jinx skin. and everything mythic essence related is now also going under this new gacha system. This is worse for both, FTP and non-FTP players. Riot also released a signature Faker skin, which was pretty damn expensive, and a Jhin skin that was basically just different color from already existing skin. More of this is certainly coming soon and I just have this little feeling that they will hide it under the excuse of new seasons.
Now, I believe that they will use the money on something really good, I have no doubt. I loved Arcane, I still enjoy league sometimes, I like some of the announced game changes quite a bit and so on and so on. What I hate, on the other hand, is the fact that Riot is obviously trying to squeeze as much money out of league as they can by implementing these changes, which again would be cool bcs we get more shows coming and it's their game in the end of the day, therefore they can change it how they want, if they wouldn't present those changes as if they were QoL improvements for the players. They pretend that those nerfs to both FTP and non-FTP players, masked under the excuse of upcoming series-related events (like Noxus, Ionia), are actually improvements for us. They try to brainwash us by pretending it actually gives us more. It does not. Even the mastery chest system rework stripped us of most of the chests and you need to grind a lot to even get some worth it rewards. I don't mind nerfs to FTP and I don't mind occasionally paying for some cool stuff if it's not super expensive, but I just HATE their policy of pretending it is actually for our benefit. Also I doubt that from the gameplay perspective, especially for the FTP players, these changes are worth it – not even in exchange for more series. But overall, if they didn't pretend it's for our own good, it would not be as bad as it is.
Please Riot, stop that. We all know it's bullshit and we would appreciate some honesty.
Almost as if Riot should prioritize retaining their existing player base over pandering to casual media fans who have no real interest in the game 🤷♂️ (for LoL at least)
People still playing riot games games in 2025? damn…
Can't believe you're whitewashing them cutting off perfectly able devs in order to make games themselves.
But riot is working on their mmorpg. Maybe it’s setting the ground for it’s release
They banned too many people's accounts. No point in trying to get back to where you were.
if skins are sold to make more projects like arcane, i will probably spend money on league of legends for many more years to come. i dont like the gacha system that they have introduced but i wont lie and say that ill never buy into the gacha system in league, because i probably will if they make an 'exalted' skin for a champion i play and love. provided they dont make it was underwelming as they did when they released fractured jinx
