  1. Maybe EA will sell the DA namesake to Larian Studios and they could reboot the series with a real DAO sequel. (and this is coming from somebody who didnt even like BG3) Cause to me, looking back, DA died after DAO. Yes DA2 and DAI did ok but they werent really DA games. They were more and more action/adventure games.
AS far as sports goes, now that EA lost the FIFA name….maybe they could lose the rights to the NFL and we could start getting some competition in sports games again. But I doubt that will ever happen.

  2. I feel like he’s burying the lead. The problem with modern capitalism is that it’s so investor centered and those investors expect infinite growth. That type of expectation causes so much pressure that companies constantly fumble even very highly anticipated IPs as a result of the intense scrutiny of these investors and upper management types

  3. One of the lead designers of Dragon Age Inquisition that left Bioware way back had cited the launch of Witcher 3 as the game changer for the market and the series. Before then, Dragon Age was the only significant fresh dark narrative single player RPG title on the market. Any future titles were bound to underperform.

  4. I haven’t played this game. I think it’s fair to say I’ve been a fan of the series since game one. That being said the first time I saw this game it was on a store shelf. I don’t live by the pulse of gaming anymore but for this game to be released before I ever heard of it is wild to me and kind of spoke volumes and diminished my interest in purchasing it.

For anyone that that’s played it and is a fan of previous installments, is it worth playing?

  5. They forecasted 3 million because the other dragon age games all hit 3 million. EA corporate staff is incompetant and just copy pasted the previous results. They also didn't factor in changing political and social climates in America with the Trump gov't and all the hate propaganda. 2015-2025 is the era of hate, propaganda and memes.

  6. No idea what Veilguard is, but EA has been going down for a while now… They've became the synonym of overly greedy bad producers.. I mean, there are EA(early access) games that are a LOT more complete than EA ( Eletronic Aholes) games and on a proper price… Eletronic Arse has been selling engines at a full game price to later sell the actual content of the game as DLC, so, yeah, when I hear EA and not from Early Access I already expect bad and incomplete games…. Yeah, they somehow get amazing concepts, which only makes things worse sinse they don't work it out properly… like, spore, great game, full of bugs, instead of fixing bugs and expanding they release an expansion that no one really wanted that adds thousands more bugs and a huge spotlight on the many flaws the game already had…. The Sims medieval, exactly the same, concept, terrible expansion with even more bugs, abandonment…
Anyways, this is probably about Veilguard and I do apologize for not knowing the title at all, but I just had to vent off on EA BS policy and how they ruin amazing concepts of games….

  7. I just hope they empire fall, like Ubisoft, Blizzard, Bethesda, Nintendo, Sony for just lokcing up the market for better entreprises that don't feel the need to screw the customers and the employees to meet investor demands, also sometime attack competitor over silly things

  8. I'm getting so tired of the "um actually the game needs to cost X in order to Y" response.

Also the concept of good games make money. A house with a REALLY nice coat of paint doesnt matter if the foundation is bad and the windows arent properly installed and blah blah blah.
So yes, if the game is made well or is in fact good or fun then in theory it will make money.
Its pretty easy to point out examples.

    But then you get the:
"um actually…money makes games so blah blah and no one knows how anything works. In order to blah blah and blah blah.
So you should ACTUALLY want more titles made with super low effort in all the other ways because its good for making money"

Or whatever their argument is which is stupid.
OF COURSE you need money to make a game.
But people are ON PURPOSE missing the point in order to made others look stupid.

Use the money to make the game. How someone or a group of people ACTUALLY give a crap about the game in question.
Have them focus on the core gameplay.
Then have them work on EVERYTHING ELSE and have it working pretty good BEFORE you pretty it up and so on and so on.

    Dragon Age the Veilguard
    RedFall (remeber this????)
    Anthem
Mass effect Andromeda (YES the COMBAT was pretty decent and different. It was there ONE good idea. WE KNOW)

Overwtach 2 (a dlc pretending to be a full game)

    Diablo 4 (look it up)

The Harley Quinn game where she kills the justice league (hows that going???)

    Concord

Also a certain Star Wars game that came out recently… im pretty sure its not doing all that well.

I'm just sick to death of the "um actually…" arguements that its not even worth going into it anymore lol

Anyway im pretty sure some of you can guess the "um actually" arguements.
So yeah, have a good team.
    That team has an idea.
    The core concept is good,
    The gameplay elements are good.
    Then they refine it,
    Then they blah blah blah.

"Um actually… you need money to make a game so money is actually super inportant…"
    NO SHIT SHERLOCK?!?
But thats not what most people are referring too.
    Quality… quality… QUALITY!!!

  9. Sales "predictions" are a target for the marketing efforts, it depends on what the project cost to develop and ship with expected returns. The prediction is not a prediction, it's a goal.

  10. I don't really care if EA just disappears off the face of the Earth, that company has become a victim to its own greed.
They haven't made a meaningful, good game since Battlefield 1 for me and I think they've lost what makes a good game, they only care about the money it will bring them and unfortunately that goes for many companies nowadays.

  11. At least part of the reason for the projections and targets being completely unreasonable, is those projections are mostly made using cold data. It's very easy for the boots-on-the-ground people to see that something's impossible, but when all you do is sit in an office all day looking at spreadsheets and line graphs it looks proper because the 'math' says it's proper.

  12. the public funding of corps is like a tape worm inside your co. eventually wall st forces you to destroy your company for so called growth.. markets are broken and the expectations are broken. incentive structures even inside cos are broken….the corp structures we all take for granted are needing fundamental reform but since the religion of the only thing we care about is unlimited shareholder value we cont a race to completely destroy public companies until their will be nothing left. the mag 7 are a stupid amt of market investment at this point. it signals the system is hopelessly concentrated and broken…we are not far from a system reset caused by all this single minded stupidity. after maybe reform can take place if we even have markets afterwords.

  13. Gilson came on and said the reason Dragon Age failed was because it wasn't a live service… I swear being a CEO is one of the biggest scams in the world. Rake in millions of dollars, lay off hundreds of low paying jobs if you make a bad decision that causes millions of dollars in losses.

  14. You have it backwards. The complacency and strategy in their sports division is what has influenced the rest of the company, not the other way around. Madden, FIFA, NBA Live, and other titles have died or lost features and stagnated over time. MVP Baseball was excellent and they shelved it because they didn't want to innovate to compete. That was 20 years ago. They killed NBA Live the first time because they decided to destroy everything that made NBA Live 09 the best sports game of all-time to be more like NBA 2K. Madden and FOFA have been gutting features and using outdated, broken engines for years now. CFB 25 Is stripped down version of NCAA 14 with an added Ultimate team mode. You can't even customize rosters. Plus the new creation center sucks ass.

    I can go on with

  15. This is why ea rushed to release sims 1 and sims 2 legacy edition. They just uploaded the same game edition from 12 years ago and lied that it was “upgraded for new pcs” so the game ran horribly on launch and was full of old bugs, crashing and all sorts. But with a £30 price tag. People have been asking for sims re release for years yet they rush out a badly optimised version right when they just wasted millions on veilgaurd? 😂

  16. They killed whole dragon age franchise to add dei slop then they kill their biggest game FIFA by adding you know what more dei, you not mentioning is part of the problem

  17. what did the rest of the market do during that period? didnt AI stocks lose a trillion in value recently? in other words, it may be a mix of poor performance as well as broader market dynamics.
