Annie takes a first look at the huge play housing update for World of Warcraft. Blizzard has announced Player Housing for World of Warcraft as an evergreen feature, with an estimated launch in the Winter of 2025 after Patch 11.2.7. This feature will include customizable homes for players, accessible without high costs or complex prerequisites, and integrated into social gameplay with neighborhoods for both Alliance and Horde, featuring public and private options. Housing customization will offer themes like Folk and Rugged, with decorations potentially including personal gear, toys, and trophies. Blizzard has confirmed that housing will primarily be earned in-game, with some items available in the cash shop. Player Housing will be part of a broader roadmap extending into The Worldsoul Saga and beyond.

  1. "Player first and not revenue first" Wasnt that also a simular line when they introduced the Trading Post, that there would be no way of getting more Tenders, and yet they gave us ways to get more (with real life money)?

So far it sounds promising (all tho from the wording it still sounds like a Garrison or even the Class Hall), but knowing from past experiences with their roadmaps, things will change drasticly, so im still sceptical

  2. Im glad WoW is starting to get where games like Asheron's Call had this back in like 2008. ArcheAge also had housing similar to this through its run as well. Both games had open world sitting housing (non instanced) where if you knew where someone had their house on a housing plot, you could find it and visit (both friendly and PVP oriented reasons) on the open land spawn. Sadly both games are either Dead/canceled/no servers run but original publishers/dev teams, no longer available in North America, or emulated now.

  3. From what you’ve read, some of it sounds like garrisons but with customization. I just hope whatever mission table they implement is cosmetic rewards of neighborhood rewards only. I’m still under the belief that player housing shouldn’t be connected to player power (no mission table ofc) and serves as an alternative major city where players can rest (gain rested xp), craft, and log out there instead of a major expansion city (like oribos) or a major race city (like sw or org)
